A good place to start in understanding any community is its demographics. This section covers those essentials. How large is the population? How fast has it grown? What, and how large, are the various parts of the population, such as age, gender, marital status & race/ethnicity? How are these trends distributed between the two counties and among the largest cities?
The section also contains proxy measures of social engagement and Internet connectivity. Most of the data come from annual surveys, which are largely based on estimates. Most of the indicators have benchmarks, to Washington State and to the U.S.
A full definition of each indicator, as well as its relevance to the two counties, can be found in the More Information section. The data are available in a spreadsheet via the Download Data tab.
